Crawl Space Waterproofing Products & Solutions
If you have a crawl space with a dirt floor, it naturally emits moisture, odors, and radon gas. The humidity and dampness may also cause structural damage to the wood framing, carpets, floors and walls. Dark, humid environments like the ones found in your crawl space are also hospitable to mold, mildew, insects, and rodents, all of which can cause major problems.
Crawl space waterproofing consists of three things: keeping moisture from getting into the crawl space, keeping moisture in a crawl space from getting into your house, and keeping the air inside your crawlspace dry.
You may consider pouring concrete over your wet crawl space floor. However, doing so after symptoms of a problem have appeared is far too impractical and costly. Proper crawl space encapsulation techniques using a crawl space vapor barrier and a crawl space dehumidifier are the best answer for a wet crawl space. Kent Foundation Repair has specific solutions just for crawl spaces, scaled down for a custom fit for your unique basement. Read on to learn more about each of the products we install.
Crawl Space Vapor Barrier
Un-encapsulated crawl spaces can allow moisture and mold spores into your living space. Crawl space encapsulation is a method of trapping vapor in the crawl space. It acts as a physical shield, covering the floor and each wall of the crawl space. We use a durable, commercial-grade barrier system. Our barrier system has an anti-microbial additive built right in to fight mold and mildew growth. This vapor barrier is reinforced by poly-cord, keeping all unwanted intruders out, making your crawl space clean, safe, and a great place for storage.
Crawl Space Sump Pump
The sump pump starts working when water collects in your basement sump pit, pumping water out of the crawl space via a discharge line. This is the key to the removing ground water in your crawl space. With a good sump pump, you can keep your crawl space free of water buildup. We offer and install guaranteed crawl-space compatible sump pumps to do the job. Visit the sump pump page to learn more.
Crawl Space Dehumidifier
In order for crawl space encapsulation to be effective, the air needs to be moisture-free, this is where a custom dehumidifier does the best job.
Crawl Space Drainage
Crawl space drainage matting may be installed under a vapor barrier to provide extra drainage by channeling water to the footer drainage system. The drainage matting is made of a high-density ployethylene that provides added durability.
Crawl Space Spray Foam Insulation
Spray foam insulation is a closed cell polyeurathane foam that will bond directly to the wood, sealing all crevices and creates an air and thermal barrier at the band board. The cold air drafts in the winter go away and the hot humid air entering in the summer is blocked out. At 2″ thick, spray foam insulation has an R13 value and can reduce the energy costs in the home by as much as 20-40%. Over time, spray foam insulation pays for itself.
Crawl Space Entry
The modular crawl space entry well is large, creating an area of access that makes getting into and out of the crawl space easy and comfortable. Because it is made of a high density plastic, it will never rust, rot, or cave in. Due to its modular design (it is made of sections that are 21″ deep) the well depth can be customized to the opening and can allow for increasing the size of the opening to make the entrance and the exit of the crawl space an easier experience. Getting into the crawl space is no longer a dreaded proposition, and utilizing the space for storage is a realistic option.
